Who is your favorite artist? Time for you to tell the rest of our readers what you like!

Hey everyone,

I thought I would post a question directly to you. Over the past year I've posted some of my favorite artists and concerts on this blog. I know that my taste is just a drop in the bucket. What do you guys like? What style music do you like? What is your favorite concert of all time?

I thought it would be fun to share your interests with the readers. It will also help me to ensure I post content that my users want to see.

  • At present Anouar Brahem...the Oud player from Tunisia.

I think that the Oud is probably an instrument that would suit many guitar players better than the guitar, especially the sensitive ones. But the Oud requires a little bit more attention to intonation because it is unfretted, but because of this it is possible to get a better slide and vibrato than on a guitar. The french based DADGAD master Pierre Bensusan plays a song on the Intuite album in dedication to one of the great Oud players, he's playing it on an acoustic guitar but the texture is very much like an Oud. The album worth a listen is 'le Pas du chat noir'.

You've asked a very good question and depending on the mood I'm in I could respond with a different player and a valid reason why I like him or her.

  • One of my favorites is Tommy Emmanuel, I've reviewed his latest live CD on my blog. There's also a video. I've also got information about Gordon Giltrap another superb player. His Heart's Song shows just what you can achieve with strumming!
